ALISON
Artist Profile
Alison Evans Killam is a Calgary born mixed media artist focusing mainly on watercolour and ink. She picked up a watercolour brush at a workshop for beginners and from there it all began. Retiring allowed Alison to paint every day! She has developed a close mentorship with American watercolorist Ruth Glenn Little. This gift of mentorship has allowed her to open up to the feelings she wants to express in her subject matter -- all the while learning the foundations of painting. Alison continues with studio classes under Calgary artist Lori Lukasewich. She continues to grow and develop her work with workshops and plein air sessions.
Bright, bold, captivating colour can be found in her florals, landscapes and abstracts. Living in the prairies, close to the Rocky Mountains, Alison captures the raw emotion and feelings of prairie and mountains as she sees them. Line, shape and colour defines what she puts into her work.
Additionally, her florals come from the intimate knowledge and experience as a florist. Working as a contemporary artist allows her to express the essence of her subject matter without perfectly defining them.
She has collectors in both Canada and the United States
